How to Extend Your Summer Glow Well Into Autumn

6. September 2018

Autumn is upon us. But that doesn’t mean you can’t extend your Summer glow for a little longer. Especially if you’re like me and don’t want to let go of Summer just yet! Here are 7 simple ways to prolong both your post-holiday tan and keep your healthy Summer glow for weeks to come.

Extend your summer glow and maintain a post-holiday tan with these super simple tips

Disclaimer: Some of the products mentioned contain affiliate links which means I may receive a small commission if you decide to purchase them. But this will have no extra cost to you. As you know, I only ever recommend products and brands that I absolutely love and use myself in both my professional and personal makeup kits. So that’s how I know how amazing they are and why I’m so excited to share them with you so you’ll get the same amazing results from using them too.

Tip 1: Use a body moisturiser every day

Hydration is key to a healthy glow. And this will help maintain your post-holiday tan and extend your Summer glow for much longer.

Make sure to use a body moisturiser that contains highly nourishing ingredients such as shea butter. And be sure to apply it at least once per day. It’s particularly important to do this after you shower or bathe so as to instantly rehydrate your skin.

The Evolve Beauty African Orange Aromatic Body Lotion is divine and is perfect for this. It contains organic shea butter and aloe vera that will effectively hydrate and soothe your skin. In fact, I love to use this all year round for gorgeous, glowing skin.

Tip 2: Exfoliate once per week

If you’re just back from holidays or still have a tan, you might think this is something that’ll remove your tan.

But it’s actually a really important step to maintaining your tan and to extend your Summer glow for longer.

Exfoliating will effectively remove any dry, rough skin and will actually keep your skin looking and feeling smooth, healthy and glowing as your tan starts to fade.

But don’t overdo it. Once per week is more than enough.

This body scrub is perfect for the job

I absolutely LOVE the Corinne Taylor Detox Himalayan Salt Body Scrub. It’s packed with scrumptious, skin-loving certified natural and organic ingredients. And leaves your skin absolutely glowing and ultra-hydrated after using it.

Tip 3: Keep hydrated

I’ve already mentioned that keeping your skin hydrated is key to maintaining your tan and to extend your Summer glow. And great as products are, they’ll only do so much for you. What you really need to do is keep hydrated from the inside out.

One of the easiest ways to do this is to ensure you drink plenty of water every day. This is truly is the key to healthy skin renewal. And it has so many other amazing benefits too.

For example, if you’re feeling sluggish or tired, drink some water instead of coffee as the water will instantly increase your energy levels. And the effects will last much longer too.

Aim for a minimum of 2 litres of water per day. Your skin will really thank you for it. And you’ll notice a big difference in how glowing and healthy it looks.

Do you find it hard to get into the habit of drinking water?

If so, make sure to check out this blog post where I spoke about all the amazing benefits of drinking water for your skin and body. I’ve also included plenty of really simple and tasty ways to start introducing more water into your daily routine.

Tip 4: Eat foods rich in beta-carotene

Foods such as carrots, mango, papaya and sweet potato have a very high beta-carotene content. So they’re great for helping to prolong a post-holiday tan.

But they’ve got so many other benefits for your skin as they’re also high in antioxidants which help to protect against premature ageing. And they’ll help to extend your Summer glow well into Autumn. As well as an all year round healthy glow.

Plus they have the added bonus of being so yummy too!

Tip 5: Apply a gradual self-tanner

These are another simple way to prolong a tan. They have the added benefits of moisturising and nourishing your skin. Whilst also topping up your tan and adding a beautiful, natural-looking glow to your skin.

The Gradual Tanner from Eco by Sonya is a great way to maintain your tan. It’s actually called Winter Skin. But it’s gorgeous all year round!

It contains certified organic ingredients such as cacao fruit powder which has high moisturising properties. And the aloe vera leaf juice will help to heal and regenerate your skin.

Tip 6: Avoid hot showers

If the water is too hot, it’s going to dehydrate your skin and cause it to look dull. And it will also cause your tan to fade much more quickly too.

Aim for a water temperature of cool to warm rather than hot.

Tip 7: Stay active to extend your Summer glow

Have you ever noticed how glowy your skin looks after exercising or being outside?

A great way to keep that glow is to stay active. For example, exercise outdoors whilst the weather is still good. Go for a jog in the park. Or a nice walk in nature will do the trick too.

You’ll be doing something really great for your body. Because when you’re taking great care of yourself on the inside, it will show on the outside too and give your skin a gorgeous, healthy glow.
